Learn your own boat
Instruction from a USCG-licensed captain on your boat, in your harbor.

Not a classroom. The lines come off in your harbor, on your boat, and the lesson is whatever your slip serves up: the crosswind that pins you to the finger, your engine's cold start, your electronics, your channel out. These are the habits that keep a boat alive in Hawaiʻi, practiced where your boat actually lives.
The sessions
| Session | Price |
|---|---|
| Your Boat, Your Harbor 4 hours on the water | $495 |
| New Owner Package two sessions and a dock walkthrough | $895 |
| Hawaiʻi Boater Card companion practical 2 hours of practice | $295 |
Your Boat, Your Harbor covers docking and undocking, line handling, situational awareness, and the habits your harbor demands. The New Owner Package is for owners in their first season: two on-water sessions, a full systems walkthrough at the dock, and a written checklist for your boat. The Hawaiʻi Boater Card companion practical pairs 2 hours of on-water practice with the state's online course. The card covers the rules; this covers your hands.
What this is, and is not. These sessions are on-water skills instruction. They are not the State of Hawaiʻi boater education certificate — owners complete that online through a DLNR-approved course, and I am glad to point you to the list.
